How long does a one-bedroom condo take to clean? Timed, room by room
About two hours, for a maintained one-bedroom of around 650 sq ft with one bathroom, done by one person who has done it before. That is not a guess: it is the block the Condo Clean is built around, and this is where the minutes go.
The two hours, timed
- 0:00 to 0:35, bathroom. Products go on first so they work while the rest happens: fixtures, mirror, tub or shower glass, toilet, floor.
- 0:35 to 1:10, kitchen. Counters cleared and wiped, stovetop, sink and taps, the outside of the appliances, the microwave inside.
- 1:10 to 1:35, living and sleeping areas. Accessible dusting, surfaces, the bed made if fresh sheets are out.
- 1:35 to 1:50, floors. Vacuum throughout, then mop where the floor allows it.
- 1:50 to 2:00, bins out, a walk-through against the written list, lights and lock-up as agreed.
What adds time
- A second bathroom: about forty minutes. Two-bath plans are the Extended Clean for that reason.
- A dog or a long-haired cat: fifteen minutes on the floors, sometimes more under the sofa.
- Dishes in the sink: ten to twenty minutes that come out of the kitchen’s share. A light load is fine; a full sink is a task to agree first.
- Inside the oven: forty-five minutes. Inside the fridge: thirty. Both are extras, quoted with their time.
- Condition. A home that has not had a proper clean in months is not a slow Condo Clean; it is a Setup Clean, three hours, with a plan.
Why ‘up to 2 hours’ is not a countdown
The block reserves time for the priorities on the list. If the list is done at 1:45, the visit is done at 1:45 and the price is the same. If the home clearly needs more than the block, that is said before the visit starts, and the longer block is proposed instead of a rushed job. Time is the budget, the list is the promise.
How that compares with doing it yourself
A good weekly pass on the same one-bedroom takes most people two and a half to three hours, spread over an evening, with the bathroom skipped more often than anyone admits. Every 2 weeks with a professional is four hours a month of your time back, at C$135 a visit on the fortnightly route. Whether that is worth it is a personal sum; the point of the timing above is that you can do the sum with real numbers.
